These days, more and more people are working from home either full-time or a few days a week. If you work from home, this is definitely something to keep in mind as you are house hunting. You want to find a house with the following features, which will make working from home easier and more enjoyable.

A dedicated space you can use as an office

Sure, you can make do by working at the kitchen table or setting up a desk in the corner of your bedroom. But since you are buying a home, you might as well look for one with a dedicated office. The room does not have to be set up as an office right now. You could buy a 3-bedroom home when you really only need two bedrooms or a home with a playroom that you plan on converting to an office. Make sure the room you plan on using as an office has a door you can close for quiet and privacy. Also, make sure the office room is located far from the kitchen and living room so you won't be disturbed by the noise made by family members when they use these spaces.

Good internet options

This is more of a concern for people who are shopping for homes in rural areas. Make sure you look into what internet options are available in the home. You don't want to move in and find that the only internet service available will cost you $200 a month or that you can only get super-slow dial-up. You need the internet for work, so make sure you buy a home where you can get high-speed, affordable internet. You can call internet companies directly, give them the address, and ask if they'd be able to offer service there.

An efficient heating system

When you work from home, you can't turn the heat down too low during the day like you can when you're away at work all day. As such, you need to make sure the home has an efficient heating system so you don't end up paying an arm and a leg for heating. Also, check that the home is well insulated. Newer homes are generally built with more insulation than older ones.
